From 'Lady Chatterley's Lover'
From ‘Lady Chatterley’s Lover’ by D.H. Lawrence, I hope to take his sense of controversy and shock. If I were to ever write a novel, I would hope it would be banned/challenged. Though it wasn’t as fresh or controversial in this day and age, it was for the time it was written. Some people go on about it being scandalous just for the sake of being scandalous, but whether or not that’s true, it’s being talked about. Years and years later, it’s being talked about. It made people question what was acceptable and moral, and that is what I would like to take away from Lawrence and this novel.
“Sex and a cocktail: they both lasted about as long, had the same effect, and amounted to the same thing.”
--D.H. Lawrence, 'Lady Chatterley's Lover'
“A little morphine in all the air. It would be wonderfully refreshing for everyone.”
